The Royale Music Competition is open to musicians from all countries of all ages, all instruments, composition, conducting, vocal and chamber groups. Candidates can apply one or more of the following categories according to the related requirements.
1. Prodigy (Age 7 and younger)
Free choice of 1 or more pieces. Video duration less than 5 minutes.
2. Junior A (Age 8-9)
Free choice of 1 or more pieces. Video duration less than 8 minutes.

3. Junior B (Age 10-11)
Free choice of 1 or more pieces. Video duration less than 8 minutes.

4. Junior C (Age 12-13)
Free choice of 1 or more pieces. Video duration less than 8 minutes.

5. Youth A (Age 14-15)
Free choice of 1 or more pieces. Video duration less than 10 minutes.

6. Youth B (Age 16-17)
Free choice of 1 or more pieces. Video duration less than 10 minutes.

7. Advance (Age 18-22)
Free choice of 1 or more pieces. Video duration less than 15 minutes.
8. Professional (No age limit)
Free choice of 1 or more pieces. Video duration less than 20 minutes.
9. Baroque A (Age 17 and under)
Free choice of 1 or more pieces. Video duration less than 15 minutes.
10. Baroque B (No age limit)
Free choice of 1 or more pieces. Video duration less than 15 minutes.
11. Classical A (Age 17 and under)
Free choice of 1 or more pieces. Video duration less than 15 minutes.
12. Classical B (No age limit)

13. Romantic A (Age 17 and under)

20. Chamber Group (3-10 Performers)

21. Ensemble/Band/Choir/Orchestra
Free choice of 1 or more pieces. Video duration less than 30 minutes.
22. National Music
Free choice of 1 or more pieces. Video duration less than 15 minutes.
23. Concerto
Free choice of one piece/movement. Video duration less than 30 minutes. Accompanying Format: piano/audio/orchestra
24. Musical Theatre Singing
Free choice of 1 or more pieces. Video duration less than 15 minutes.

25. Conducting
Free choice of 1 or more pieces. Video duration less than 30 minutes.
26. CD Album
One CD album - all tracks in the album need to be submitted.

27. Music Video
Free choice of One music video for One piece (a video production which combines a piece of music and video clips for artistic purposes).

28. Film/Game Music
One work created by the candidate.
Rules FAQ
Q: Do I need to show my hands in the video?
A: For instrumentalists, the hands and face of the performer must be visible in the video; For singers, the face of the performer must be visible; This requirement does not apply to composers.

Q: How do I submit my video?
A: You can upload your video to Youtube, Vimeo, Youku, or any video platform (as long as visitors can watch it), then submit the video link to the online application form. You can also submit the form first and leave the video link blank, send the link to us by email before the competition deadline.

Q: Can I use an Audio background for accompaniment if I can't find an accompanist?
A:​ Yes, you can use the audio background music for accompaniment.

Q: Can I submit Audio played by software (Composers)?
A:​ Yes, composers can submit audio files played by performers, as well as computing softwares.

Q: Can I use the same piece/video for multiple categories?
A: Yes. As long as the chosen piece meets the requirement of the categories.

Q: Can I wear a facemask in the video due to the covid situation?
A: Yes.

Q: Can I have several pieces in one link? Can there be a gap between the pieces?
Yes the video can include several pieces, and pauses are allowed. If you are willing to submit a few small pieces, you can also combine them into a longer video.

Q: Can I play more instruments in one video?
A: You can only play one musical instrument for each application. An additional musical instrument will need to be submitted as another application.

Q: If I am a composer, can I submit my piece performed by other performers?
A: Yes. For composers, audio submissions/compositions played by computing software are also accepted.

Q: Can I play a single movement of a sonata?
A. Yes, you can play one or more movements.
​
Q: Can I submit a longer video than the listed duration?
A: If you submit a longer video, only the first x (according to categories) minutes of it will be used for the competition.

Q: For conductors, can I submit my video without an orchestra?
A: Conductors can submit a video of conducting an orchestra, or conducting with audio playing in the background.
